160 years of educational work
This year, St. Augustine's College (Pieta') is marking its 160th anniversary since it opened its doors for the first Augustinian college. It was on 23rd October 1848, when St. Augustine's College started welcoming children and youths for the first time, to help them in their educational journey. In the beginning, the college was situated in Valletta, but after the Second World War, it was transferred to Hal Tarxien. It was in 1966, when the need to transfer the college, was felt again, in order to welcome more students. The College at Pieta', where it is situated at present, was inaugurated on 16th April 1966 and today, it is still serving its important ministry in the Augustinian Province. In order to mark the 160th anniversary of the inauguration of the first college, a thanksgiving mass is going to be held, on Friday 18th April at 10.30pm in the main ground of the College and is going to be celebrated by Fr. Paul Cremona OP, Archbishop of Malta. Since the College will be celebrating Founder's Day on that day as well, the Archbishop will be making a pastoral visit in the College.
