Our Lady of Good Counsel Church opens its doors once again
After six months of non-stop activity, the Augustinian community at Paceville will be reopening the church dedicated to Our Lady of Good Counsel, on 4th October 2008. This church was built in 1967, when Provincial Fr. Ugolin Gatt OSA felt that it was time to start building a bigger church, to serve better the spiritual needs of the people at Spinola, which had grown and changed into a magnificent village, named Paceville. The foundation stone of the new church was laid on 18th June 1967 while the blessing, inauguration and the opening of the new church took place on 18th August of the following year by Assistant General Fr. Egidju Galea OSA. It was for this reason that since so many years had passed, the Augustinian community at Paceville decided to renovate this church, so it continues to serve those who attend its functions. Hence, a thanksgiving mass is going to take place on Saturday 4th October at 6.45pm. Moreover, everybody is invited to attend the various celebrations concerning the re-opening of the church dedicated to Our Lady of Good Counsel:
Friday 14th November – Prayers and Inauguration of the whole project is going to take place at 7pm, and will be led by Provincial Fr. Lucjan Borg OSA (there will be no evening mass as the inauguration is going to take the form of prayers).
Saturday 15th November – The blessing of the church during the 6.45pm mass
Sunday 16th November – Consecration of the Altar during the 9am mass. This celebration will be presided by Mons Archbishop Pawl Cremona OP (this will be the only mass which will be celebrated on that day) If you would like to read more about the Augustinian presence at Paceville, click HERE.
