12th Annual Saint Augustine Lecture 2008
On Thursday 6th November 2008, Rev. Professor Dr Robert Dodaro OSA PhD (Oxon.) STHD (Aug.) President of the Augustinian University in Rome gave the 12th Annual Saint Augustine Lecture 2008 on Augustine of Hippo and Politics. The event, which was held at the University of Malta at 7pm, was presided by HE The President of the Republic of Malta Dr Edward Fenech Adami KUOM BA LLD.
Two other public lectures were given on Friday, 7th November 2008 – one took place at 11am at the University of Malta, while the other was delivered to the participants of the Augustine For All series of lectures at the Augustinian Institute Pieta’.
The Annual Lecture was founded in 1997 by Revd Dr Salvino Caruana OSA STHD Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Theology, University of Malta, and Director of the Augustinian Institute, Pieta’. The lecture on Saint Augustine of Hippo is an annual event held in conjunction with the Faculty of Theology of the University of Malta, the Archdiocesan Foundation for the promotion of Theological Studies and the Maltese Augustinian Province and is meant to promote knowledge of, and discussion on some aspects of the life, thought and works of Saint Augustine bishop of Hippo (Annaba, Algeria) 354 - 430CE.
